It’s the season to celebrate cozy weather, curling up by the fire, hot chocolate and cider wearing my favorite sweaters, as the holiday season gatherings are getting close. Are you ready to make merry and whoop it up? The sound of sleigh bells, twinkling lights and holiday music are delightful. It warms the heart and soul. I enjoy the season and try not to gain a whole bunch of weight but between Halloween and New Years, everything involves rich scrumptious food. And, life should be joyful, right. I know, all things in moderation. But that’s no fun. I’ll get a little plumper and not beat myself up over it. I can deal with it in January.
Let’s get to the heart of what’s coming to Fair Oaks for the holidays in 2018.
December 1st, 2018
Are you ready for it?
Ta-da…
The Fair Oaks Chamber of Commerce and the Fair Oaks Recreation & Park District bring us
Christmas in the Village
It goes from 3 PM to 8 PM.
A day filled with activities surrounded by Christmas music and food trucks. There are vendors with all kinds of goodies to buy, you can get free pictures with Santa, and go on a scavenger hunt. The Village stores will be open for shopping and all decked out for the holidays with lights and decorations to set the mood. There is also a gingerbread house decorations contest. And there’s MORE!
The Christmas Parade of lights starts around 4 PM, check the Fair Oaks Chamber of Commerce site for specifics like the parade route and time.
After the parade, the Festival of trees in the Village Park and the main tree lighting will happen. There will be live carolers and a hot chocolate and hot cider booth.
It’s absolutely beautiful and one of my favorite holiday traditions in Old Fair Oaks Village.
The Fair Oaks Theatre Festival will be hosting a Winnie the Pooh movie in the park after the tree lighting. Just bring a canned food item for the food donation drive for the price of admission.
Parking
For easy parking to get to events in Fair Oaks Village, we usually take Uber or Lyft and get dropped off. Sometimes we park across the street off of Sunrise where Taco Bell and the Scandinavian furniture store and it’s a short walk to the Village from there.
