The Crown of the Sacramento Valley
This has been a passion project of mine for years. It's a little bit personal blog with community rolled into it. It's my life in Fair Oaks. The shops, activities, friends, and the people who live here that make Fair Oaks a special place to call home.
I'm Chrysti Tovani, welcome to my blog.
I am community minded and like to be involved and meet new friends. I can’t imagine doing anything else.
My social life and business life are closely entwined and I love it because I enjoy the work that I do and the people whose lives I’ve touched through my photos or by helping them achieve home ownership. Both are personal. Their history, their story. Something to be excited about when I wake up every day with this purpose. I want to be 85 and still be as delighted to start my day.
I love Fair Oaks!
I always, always feel good walking around Fair Oaks village.
I raised my only child here. So many memories. His first time on a swing in Fair Oaks Park, his daycare at the Lutheran Church, Fair Oaks Elementary and the time he and I laughed until we cried at his 6th-grade school photo. It was like the photographer just snapped and wasn't paying attention to his expression so it caught him making a weird face. Nope, we didn't buy that package. But, I do have a Christmas ornament that the he made in that class with that very photo. I love it!
Fair Oaks is splendid! We're close to the river with trails for walking, bike and even horseback riding. We have deer and wild turkeys on our streets and in our yards.
The Sun Flower Drive-In has been around as long as I know and they have the best veggie burger. The O Cafe (formerly Dianda's) has desserts. Try the Merranges and the shortbread cookies.
The Fair Oaks Coffeehouse and Deli is a comfortable spot to relax and enjoy a hot beverage, frozen yogurt or get a sandwich. The people who run it are so kind. I even have my own special sandwich that I made up. It's a lettuce wrap.
The shops in the village are eclectic and fun to peruse through and the people are friendly. I can't count how many times I've felt cheered up just seeing the chickens. We have a rooster mural in the village that you've got to go see. It's named after Hermie, a rooster who lives on the corner.
We've got a great entertainment venue with concerts in the park and the Fair Oaks Theatre. There are so many things to love about Fair Oaks. I try to go to as many as I can and write about them.
I love Fair Oaks.
Here I share experiences in and around Fair Oaks while highlighting local businesses and the culture.
We have a strong collaborative community that cares. Some families have lived here for generations! I'm hoping to get some of the older photos from the 1930's and 40's, 50's, and up.
I love about blogging and documenting the visual elements of our stories. Connecting each other and educating people who are moving into Fair Oaks about the history and the importance of being involved in the community.
Locally Focused Content that tells a story.
There is a unique character that local businesses, crafters, and artist bring into the community of Fair Oaks that no large chain can compare with.
Feel free to share your memories, and if you would like me to showcase a particular location or event, I would be happy to help you tell your story.
Part of the joy of living in Fair Oaks is that it is connected to Carmichael, and Folsom as well as the ability to enjoy other Sacramento area events. For example, Broadway Sacramento, Musical Theater, Sacramento Ballet, Sacramento Philharmonic, Sacramento Farm to Fork, Sacramento River Cruises, Delta Queen, Malagro Center in Carmichael, to name a few. Occasionally, I may write about or include something nearby that I've experienced.
