In 2008, homeowners Wendy and Brian Branine came across an online ad offering a free elephant while settling into their new home. Naturally intrigued, they arranged to bring her home, and before long, the 7-foot elephant became a centerpiece in their front yard.

Soon after, the street buzzed with cars as people came from all over Sacramento to see Nellie. She instantly became a cherished neighborhood fixture. Wendy and Brian took things a step further by dressing Nellie up for every holiday and special occasion, even converting part of their garage into a dedicated wardrobe for Nellie’s growing collection.
