A Fresh Start: The New Orangevale-Fair Oaks Farmstand
Big news, friends! Something incredible is sprouting right here in our community. The Orangevale-Fair Oaks Food Bank Farm is launching a brand-new farmstand! Starting in spring 2025, this gem will bring you fresh, locally grown produce and handmade goodies every Saturday, all year long.
Let’s take a second to appreciate what this means. This isn’t just about veggies or food (although, who doesn’t love farm-fresh produce?). This is about community, connection, and care. It’s a place where local farmers, artisans, and nonprofits come together to create something bigger than themselves—a space where you can shop, give back, and feel proud to be part of something amazing.
Here’s the Heart of It
Every time you shop at this farmstand, you’re helping families right here in Orangevale and Fair Oaks. The Food Bank is seeing 10 to 20 new families walk through its doors every single day. Let that sink in—every day.
In 2023, the Food Bank Farm grew 14,500 pounds of fresh, organic produce to meet this need. And now, the farmstand is stepping up to help even more. Proceeds will go straight back into supporting the Food Bank and Farm, making sure no one in our community is left behind.
The Journey to Now
Here’s the thing: this didn’t happen overnight. What started as an empty parking lot (yes, a literal parking lot!) has grown into a thriving farm, thanks to a $250,000 grant from Republic Services and Rebuilding Together Sacramento—and the incredible dedication of volunteers who poured their hearts into this vision.
The farmstand is the next step forward. It’s about taking that vision and turning it into something extraordinary—a hub where we can nourish our neighbors, empower local farmers, and create lasting impact.
And by September 2024, this dream officially came to life. The farmstand is now standing tall, proudly painted with the words: “The Farmstand Est 2024.” It’s ready to open its doors and begin a whole new chapter in 2025.
